Every year, Food & Wine names the best new chefs in America—no New Orleans chefs were included in this year's class— but along with that they also present their readers a chance to speak up for their faves, and this year The People's Best Chef: Gulf Coast has seven Louisiana chefs up for the award: Meauxbar's Kristen Essig, Maurepas Food's Michael Doyle, MoPho's Michael Gulotta, Square Root's Phillip Lopez, SoBou's Juan Carlos Gonzalez, Peche's Ryan Prewitt and Cotton's Cory Bahr (of Monroe, LA).
As the name of the award implies, the People's award goes to the chef with the most votes. You can vote right here until April 8. The winners will be announced on April 9.
