ASAP Soft Pretzel Bakery Heading to Bywater in April

A new bakery specializing in soft pretzels is opening in the former printing press behind Pizza Delicious next month, Todd Price reports. A Soft Awesome Pretzel (ASAP) is the brainchild of 'pretzel belt' (Pennsylvania) native Thomas Rakocy and pretzel whisperer/Nola native Wayne J. Weidig. Apparently they have the equipment to crank out 400 Bavarian-style pretzels every six minutes.

The bakery will offer indoor and outdoor seating and a late-night walk-up window. The pretzels will be available with a slew of dipping options, and more items—pretzel hot dogs, fresh bread— will likely make an appearance after the opening. The pretzels may also soon be available at some local bars.
