Sean McCusker, the mastermind behind Sylvain, the acclaimed French Quarter gastropub that opened in 2010 and helped launched the careers of chef Alex Harrell and bartender Liam Deegan, tells Eater that he's parted ways with both the fries and champagne hub and LGD whiskey den Barrel Proof, as he plans to head out west and open a spot in California.
McCusker's former partner Robert LeBlanc is still running the show at Sylvain and Barrel Proof, along with Meauxbar and the upcoming Cavan Co. slated to open Uptown by 2016.
