Just when you thought you knew all of New Orleans' hottest spring openings, super scooper Todd Price now reports that the historic CBD space that was once home to Cosimo Matassa's recording studio, and more recently, the rather shortlived burger emporium Phil's Grill, is slated to become a new gastropub Rebellion Bar & Urban Kitchen. First time restaurateur Seung Hong, whose Korean parents originally moved to Brazil before settling in America, will bring PanAsian and Latin American flavors to the spot, slated to open at 748 Camp Street in in mid-April.
Chef David Dickensauge (formerly of Baton Rouge's Bin 77) has developed the menu, including empanadas, spring rolls, a kimchi and pork belly stew and more. Local bar superstar T. Cole Newton is crafting the cocktail menu, and there will be an outdoor bamboo garden and patio.
