The newly-opened modern American restaurant Kin continues to make a splash in the unassuming Gert Town area, with Advocate critic Ian McNulty now reporting on the ambitious hotspot from chefs Nate Nguyen and Hieu Than: "The small confines, the open kitchen and Kin's unusual menu do combine to create the feel of a culinary clubhouse just a bit off the grid."
As for that menu, McNulty notes big flavors—from a soy-glazed roasted cornish hen to short ribs with a dashi to a duck heart, goat cheese and melon salad—but modest pricing with dishes ranging from under $10 to the teens.
Most exciting of all, Kin will add a "lunchtime menu of ramen dishes" in one month's time. There are also booze plans, but the restaurant is BYOB until permits come through.
