A rumor that's been circulating for sometime now sounds like it may in fact be coming true. It's very probable that Pho Tau Bay is closing its doors next week, as a major grocery retailer and gas station extravaganza (perhaps a WalMart neigborhood market) has city approval to take over the large zombie-apocalypto bowling alley/strip mall lot that has housed the pho and banh mi icon for 33 years. Food blogger Emily Smith of Gonola.com and Fleurdelicious stopped by Pho Tau Bay last night and notes that the restaurant is closing on February 14 with plans to relocate to the Medical District this summer. Fans of the restaurant have been asking about the potential closure on Facebook and saying the restaurant will likely move to the former Pho Tau Bay Express location on Tulane Avenue on Tiger Droppings. Pho Tau Bay is closed today, and couldn't be reached for comment.
