Balise, the highly-anticipated second restaurant from La Petite Grocery's Mia Freiberger-Devillier and chef Justin Devillier, is officially opening today in the CBD, Ian McNulty reports. The two-storied "bar and parlor" is located in the former Ditcharo's space with a chic Upstairs dining area and a casual downstair's bar and dining area also featuring the long-awaited garde manger (cold station), which will kickstart the New Orleans crudite revolution, along with serving pate, venison tartare (heeey) and raw bar options.
Todd Price also reports that the bar has its own menu with "pickled quail eggs, roasted pecans and hushpuppies with cheddar ale sauce" for the taking. As for the cocktails, mixologist Jesse Carr from NYC hot spot Maison Premiere is heading up the program. And if you need more reasons to head over to Balise as soon as possible, remember this is one of the 33 hottest openings in America this spring and the menu is a beauty, including such difficult life-choices as cheeseburger vs. rabbit roulade. There are plans to add weekend brunch as well.
