There's a casual modern American restaurant with Asian (and French and Italian) influences heading to 4600 Washington in the Gert Town area near Xavier, Ian McNulty reports this week. Kin is expected to open in March from Hieu Than, an alum of Tom Collichio's Craft Bar in NYC and second generation of the Vietnamese family behind chicken wing hub Manchu. Than's partner/chef Nate Nguyen's menu (epic food porn this way) will turn out a melting pot of multicultural cuisines—"not fusion"—from a sparkling open kitchen, including:
Duck confit with Chinese five spice and miso-braised kale, roasted chicken with ginger and soy, oyster mushroom fettuccine, scallops with radicchio, endives and citrus vinaigrette and, perhaps, some house-made French macaroons to end the meal.
Housemade seems to be the name of the game here, and the restaurant space looks nicely revamped from its former Big Momma's soul food days, so do keep your eye on this duo. Expect dinner Monday through Saturday with lunch hours and booze to come.
