City Council has given the thumbs up to The Station, a coffee shop and bakery planned for a long-vacant gas station at 4400 Bienville (at N. Alexander), Alicia Serrano reports. Plans call for the renovation of two historic buildings, one of which will be a separate baking facility, where owner/Brocato's alum Megan Walker and husband Jonathan Walker have plans to bake breads, pastries and roast coffee on site. There will also be outdoor seating, and the spot will likely be bike-friendly as it's only a couple blocks off the Lafitte Greenway.
The Station joins a growing list of exciting concepts heading to the Mid City area in 2016 including the Mopho team's upcoming Italian eatery Tana at Treo, and bartender Chris McMillian's exciting cocktail and sandwich concept Revel. No word on its projected opening date as of yet.
