Donald Link and team have officially entered the Uptown fray, with new expansion La Boulangerie now open after a brief cosmetic upgrade. Pastry chef Maggie Scales and team are ready to turn out hundreds of king cakes this Carnival season—including the bakery's signature French version and Cochon Butcher variations— on top of supplying all Link Group restaurants with pastries and bread.
Scales has also added her own touch to the roster of La Boulangerie specialties, including a few tweaks to the breads, a dazzling new almond croissant and chocolate croissant (both with incredible, bold flavors), and a baller ham and cheese croissant that now features Butcher bacon.
In fact, the bakery now dons a short menu of sandwiches and salads showcasing Butcher meats. There's also a great coffee program featuring local micro-roasters Congregation Coffee, founded by Butcher alum Ian Barrilleaux.
Meanwhile, the Link Group's Warehouse District flagship Cochon is currently undergoing renovations to double its size, now slated to debut in early 2016.
