Adding to the number of restaurants opening under the wire of 2015, Rosa Mezcal brings creative tacos, street food inspired food from the Yucatan and Baja peninsula (as of December 19) as well as the Latino restaurant standards of burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and the like.
The Gambit's Helen Freund reports on the unique taco styles:
Apache tacos are filled with seared skirt steak, nopales (prickly pear cactus), Oaxaca cheese and chile toreado. The Playeros taco is stuffed with shrimp, bacon, cream cheese-filled jalapenos, red cabbage and spicy mayonnaise.
Rosa Mexcal's owners Omar and Dulce Lugo (who also opened Habenero's in Covington last year) are still waiting on a liquor permit, so it's BYOB for now.
