Surprise! A New Rivershack Tavern Is Open in Gretna

The riverfront view of New Orleans is incredible.

Boil hub and 'home of the tacky ashtray' Rivershack Tavern has opened a new location on the Westbank in the former Levee Bar & Grill space (714 1st St.), Ian McNulty reports, and the riverfront views are apparently spectacular.  The newly remodeled spot boasts a "sports bar feel" with ground floor and rooftop patios,  a "long bar with 30 draft beers" and televisions galore.

An oyster bar and boiling room are also in the works for 2016, but chef Mike Baskind's sandwich-bedecked pub menu is the same as the original, with daily specials ranging from duck confit sandwiches to fried shrimp quesadillas.

The new Rivershack also hosts live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and has a huge New Years Eve bash planned for the fireworks.  Call (504) 325-5530 for more info.
