Ruby Slipper Will Close Original Location & Move to Broad Street in 2016

A 10,000-square-foot compound will have a playground, outdoor seating, and more.

Breakfast and brunch empire Ruby Slipper is expanding yet again with a new location inside a long-vacant union hall on Broad Street, Ian McNulty reports this week. That being said, owners Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt will likely close their nearby flagship on S. Cortez in Mid City when it opens in fall 2016.

The 10,000-square-foot location at 315 S. Broad—which the Weishaupts purchased in anticipation of the hospital and Broad Street corridor boom— will feature 125-seats, a second floor for private events, a wraparound balcony, and a take-out counter. The entrance will actually face Banks Street, boasting an eco-friendly parking lot like Parkway's, outdoor seating, and a playground for kids. The location will also house the company's corporate offices and a commissary kitchen. The spot is also quite close to the Lafitte Greenway as well.

This will be Ruby Slipper's sixth expansion, including four current area locations in Mid City, the Marigny, CBD, and the Quarter. The eatery has also recently expanded to Pensacola, and will open in Orange Beach, Alabama in summer 2016.
