Expansion-happy Link Restaurant Group has purchased longtime Uptown bakery La Boulangerie, Todd Price reports this week. Apparently owner Dominique Rizzo was looking to sell and offered the bakery to Donald Link before anyone else. Link Group pastry chef Maggie Scales will also come on a partner, and her staff will move to the location to source baked goods for Cochon, Peche, Herbsaint and Butcher. Other than that:
The name won't change. La Boulangerie will still bake baguettes and croissants. And at Carnival time, it will continue to sell classic, French-style king cakes.
Do expect the shop to close for a few weeks starting November 26 for a few renovations. A few upgraded items, including Cochon's meats on sandwiches, will then hop on board as of the mid-December opening. Link is also doubling the size of the original Cochon by 2016, and has just expanded Butcher to Nashville.
