The Riverbend's preeminent sports, beer and oyster hub Cooter Browns has new owners, Ian McNulty reports this week. Founder Larry Berestitzky has sold the beloved 38-year-old bar to the team behind trusty Warehouse District hub The Rusty Nail—Ivan Burgess, David Brown, and bartenders Jeff O'Brien and Lee Gold. While no major changes seem to be in store for Cooter Brown's as of yet—except for an 'assessment' and potential paring down of the giant beer list—the bar will remain open through whatever changes are to come.
Most of the staff remains the same, including oyster shucker Vince D'Aquila, and the bar's signature 'Celebrity Hall of Foam and Beersoleum' statues will also stay put.
