The team behind the Meauxbar, Sylvain, and Barrel Proof empire—Leblanc + Smith— are finally bringing long-awaited new concept Cavan to the Garden District in early 2016. Meauxbar chef Kristen Essig will run the kitchen at the new restaurant, which will specialize in traditional coastal cuisine according to a press release:
Inspired by the flavors of the American coast, Cavan will feature elegant seasonal menus that highlight quality salt and freshwater fish, fowl, and other coastal ingredients... Cuisine will be complemented by a wine and cocktail program created by sommelier Isaiah Estell, who currently oversees the wine program at Sylvain.
Cavan will take over the former Duke Morgan Spa space on Magazine. Chef Essig will also remain in charge of Meauxbar as well.
