As the Oregon-Based Ace Hotel prepares to open in the forever-booming Warehouse District come mid-2016, Todd Price now reports that Sonali Fernando has left the Bywater bar Oxalis (which she cofounded/co-owned) to step into the role of 'cultural engineer' at the highly-anticipated hotel, which apparently has a lot of culture that needs engineering. Looks like they have already hired an artisanal jabberwock/poesy encryptor as well: The feel of weft and warp woven together by countless anthropologies and creation stories far too vast for any single person to own.
Such are the vibes The Ace Hotel promises for New Orleans. Elsewhere, the brand is known for its vintage-loving, bastion-of-cool aesthetic, as well as a pretty excellent taste in restaurants, which include The Breslin (an April Bloomfield gastropub), the John Dory Oyster Bar and more.
The New Orleans location has already announced plans for a Stumptown Coffee, plus a yet-to-be-named bar and restaurant and rooftop pool, all located in a nine-story Art Deco building at 600 Carondelet St.
