The rather large void left at 519 Toulouse Street when Ralph and Kacoo's shuttered last year will be filled with condos and a new restaurant concept, reports Ian McNulty in The Advocate. Local developer Earl Weber is converting the vintage warehouse into condos with a high-end restaurant concept on the ground floor. And a large one at that:
The building's restaurant space covers 12,000 square feet, and in the Ralph & Kacoo's configuration it was advertised for up to 700 people at banquets and events. The new restaurant may not use all that space, but whatever is going in looks to be big.
Stay tuned for the announcement of the new culinary tenant, as Weber anticipates the agreement should be finalized in the coming weeks.
Note: McNulty's article also discusses the specifics of the upcoming Altamura's Thursday night popup series at Manhattanjacks starting tomorrow (Jan.22).
