Chef Drew Lockett has left French Quarter fine dining gem Marti's after nearly a year as executive chef, he tells Eater, in order to pursue other endeavors.

Brett Anderson recently praised Lockett as a young talent with excellent technique, near flawless appetizers, and a decadent menu that helped earn Marti's a three bean review.

Marti's sous Calvin Davis has reportedly been promoted to executive chef. Eater has reached out to owner Patrick Singley for comment, but is awaiting response at this time.

UPDATE 4 p.m: Patrick Singley tells Eater the parting is amicable, stating: "We're happy for Drew. He was a great opening chef and a great guy." Singley calls the shuffle a "calculated change" that the team knew was coming for months, with Davis being trained for the position and "nurtured" along the way. Expect the menu to be streamlined in the days ahead.
