Magasin, the Uptown restaurant that sparked the beginning of New Orleans' pho new wave, will be expanding with a new restaurant concept in the South Market District in early 2015. Magasin Kitchen will be located on the Girod Street side of The Paramount, a mixed-used building which may very well also be home to California's Blaze Pizza as well.
From a Press Release via Domain Companies:
Guests will order at a counter and dine in-house on tried-and-true Magasin favorites like the Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Balls, but can also expect twists on the beloved Banh Mi such as Pork Belly with Quail Egg or a Pho Baguette. Other modern delicacies will include sweet potato on vermicelli, fries, and green bean avocado fried rice. A selection of Asian beer and wine will be offered.
The restaurant will focus on sustainability menu-wise and also aesthetically. Expect the same sleek, modern design as the Magazine location, but totally green, as owner Kim Nguyen is working with green-pros Spruce Design & Interiors.
