Pizzicare No More: Details On Baron & Bell's Switcheroo

While Pizzicare is now closed for good, and owners/Crescent Pie & Sausage Co.'s Bart Bell and Jeff Baron plan the future of their upcoming switcheroo, here now is the latest: Super scooper Todd A. Price reports that the Tulane Avenue pizzeria will now be used primarily for "commissary and for catering orders" (in fact, most of their sausages are actually being made here already). While Price reports of a planned, forthcoming lunch-only service with pizza by the slice, Crescent Pie & Sausage faves, po' boys and more, the actual retail/restaurant operation sounds like it's actually on hold until 2015. Price notes that the duo haven't decided on an official name yet, though they previously referred to the switcheroo as Crescent Pie Company.

The reason for the change? Baron says, "We haven't seen the development that we hoped to see," a statement he also expressed back in February, when Ian McNulty noted the slow changes and road work taking place in hopes of transforming the street into a miracle mile.
