Dream Team Continental Provisions IN at French Market

NOLA.com's Todd Price brings the scoop about a three way collaboration bringing local food back to the French Market this fall: Snout to tail butcher Cleaver & Co., bakery Bellegrade, and cheesemonger St. James Cheese Company have announced their plans to join forces as Continental Provisions and will be opening a stall in the French Market serving sandwiches and charcuterie plates utilizing the local breads, meats, and cheeses that each player brings to the game.

The three have expressed interest in reaching different markets before, with a bid submitted (and eventually withdrawn) to run the renovated St. Roch Market. This new venture ties perfectly with the vision that Jon Smith, the new executive director of the French Market, has for the downtown space. Smith told Price that he sees this as the first step in a process to "reestablish the French Market as a food destination," citing the French Market's new Crescent City Farmers Market location beginning in October, which is also when the dream team hopes to open.
