New Orleans food and drink is indisputably some of the best in the world, so it comes as little surprise to see the new places in town getting their much deserved props on a national level.
Thrillist named local smoke palace NOLA Smokehouse one of the 15 "Best New BBQ in America," advising readers to try the brisket "burnt ends" and the savory BBQ baklava (if it's on the menu that day). The list showcases BBQ from several unexpected places like Seattle, Washington DC, and San Francisco, underscoring the geographic diversity of BBQ, now much greater than its previous meccas in Texas, Alabama, Memphis, and the Carolinas. That said, four of the 15 are located in Texas.
Cane & Table made Bon Appetit's list of Top 5 Best New Cocktail Bars in America, with editor Andrew Knowlton calling the Decatur Street oasis "a grown up drinking establishment" and recommending the Boss Colada, made with fresh pineapple.
