Battle Fried Chicken: Which Chef Will Reign Supreme?

Today marks the first finalist tasting of the fierce "Best Fried Chicken in New Orleans" competition started by NOLA.com. Judges Judy Walker, Todd Price, Liz Williams (founder and president of the SoFAB Institute) and special guest judge "Ya-ka-Mein Lady" and "Chopped" winner Linda Green went to the Popeye's on Jefferson Highway at the Causeway to taste its chicken at 11am this morning.

The next four Tuesdays will find the three regular judges and a different special guest judge every week at Aug. 26: Willie Mae's Scotch House on August 26, Mr. Ed's on September 2,
Chubbie's on September 9, and Dooky Chase on September 16. Anyone who wishes to join the judges during their visits is invited to do so. Each tasting will begin at 11am.

The five finalists were chosen last week by NOLA.com readers with the tally ranging from Mr. Ed's with 1,093 votes to Dooky Chase with 509 votes.
