Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographer Josh Brasted visits some of the city's great culinary treasures to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. In honor of The Five Days of Meat, here's Toups Meatery on a Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
Mid City's unparalleled meat destination, Toups Meatery, has been feeding New Orleans' cracklin addiction since opening in 2012. In a tiny kitchen, chef Isaac Toups turns out some of the best pork chops in town, his signature bone marrow with escargot and chicken liver mousse that is best finished with a shot of whiskey from GM Larry Nguyen. The Cajun inspired meat board looks like something out of a Jim Harrison gourmand fantasy, and is the star of the show. Arrive at any point on a Saturday night, and it's destined to be packed, a little rowdy, and definitely worth the trip.
