UPDATE: The beer dinner has been canceled. This Friday (8/1), starting at 8pm, join Southern Prohibition Brewing from Hattiesburg, Mississippi at The Irish House's three course "Cask and Dinner" event. All three beers served for the dinner will have been specially aged or infused with flavor in a container called a cask, and will be served at cellar temperatures with natural carbonation.
The Tuscan kale summer salad will be paired with SoPro's Suzy B blonde ale which has been infused in its cask with cucumber. The Louisiana pecan pasta with quail and mushrooms entree will be accompanied by a more traditionally casked ale, SoPro's Devil's Harvest pale ale dryhopped with Amarillo hops. And for dessert, the imperial red ale Fire Ant will take on the essence of blueberries and mint to complement the marscapone cheesecake and blueberry syrup dessert course.
These specialty beers were created by SoPro brewer Benjamin Green (who will also be on hand at the dinner to present the beer and discuss the pairings) specifically to pair with Irish House chef Matt Murphy's menu. Tickets for the dinner are $45 and can be purchased at the Irish House's gift shop or by calling the restaurant.
