The New Orleans Daiquiri Festival returns for the fourth year of brain-freezing festivities this weekend, July 26-27, at 548 Marigny St. (Marigny and Decatur) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The fest includes live music, daiqs featuring Louisiana rums and Bittermens Bitters, food trucks and beer/cocktails. Booze whisperer Laura McKnight reports that the event is family-friendly this year, with activities for kids including a make-your-own-snoball stand.
Also new, according to McKnight, fest founder/OHNO Co.'s Jeremy Thompson will launch the The Green Go-Cup Initiative, "a community campaign to keep the city's famed go-cups in hands and off the ground." There will be special reusable go-cups on hand for purchase, and also plastic recyclable cups. No styrofoam will be used, and a portion of the fest's proceeds will go to toward "litter and waste reduction efforts in the Marigny."
Tickets: $8/day online or $10 at the door. Weekend passes available for $32 (also include shirt, green go-cup, a koozie and more).
