CBD gastrolounge CellarDoor is now officially open for dinner and cocktails in the historic Swoop-Duggins House (916 Lafayette St.) Bartender and co-owner Michael Yusko a Cure and Bouligny Tavern alum has crafted a menu of classic drinks and modern interpretations. In the kitchen, chef Jamielyn Arcega runs a menu of 'international contemporary cuisine' featuring chicken skin 'crack-lins," lamb kebabs, mussels, and even a vegetarian 'sweet poutine' featuring lemongrass and coconut balsamic.
As for the space, here's a few shots of opening weekend to get a feel: think exposed brick, high ceilings and an amazing contemporary art collection including pieces by Damien Hirst and Skylar Fein, as Todd Price noted last week, co-owner Greg Gremillion once worked at the Paul Stolper gallery in London. From the website: "CellarDoor is best described by its creators as a conceptual work of art." From Facebook: Cellardoor "will showcase an arts themed restaurant, cocktail lounge, art gallery, boutique music venue, and special events space all in a restored three-story historic 1850's bordello." Hours unknown.
