R Bar Team Takes Over Legendary Bywater Dive Bud Rips

R Bar owners Bailey Smith and Greg Dulli have taken over legendary Bywater dive Bud Rips, the Times-Pic reports this week, with hopes of attracting an array of new denizens from YURPs to service industry. The duo plan to upgrade the beer selection, and add in a weekly crawfish boil and shot-and-a-haircut night a la R Bar, but no major renovations to the building are planned— however, the bar apparently houses an unused oyster bar and a barber shop in the back. Also on tap: the type of killer jukebox you'd expect from the lead guitarist of The Morning 40 Federation and the frontman of the Afghan Whigs.
