Gotta get that funk, am I right? Todd Price reports that a killer beer class on American craft beer brewed with Brettanomyces (aka Brett, a sour-producing yeast strain) led by Dan Stein of Stein's Deli and Derek Lintern of NOLA Brewing is happening tonight (June 18) at St. James Cheese Company Uptown.
Stein's Deli has the most extensive bottled beer selection in the city, with many Belgian and American sour beers. NOLA Brewing is just starting to experiment with different souring techniques, led by Lintern, who in his homebrewing days was well known for all sorts of sour and funk-filled beers.
Dan Stein wants to emphasize that some of these Brett beers aren't sour, so come on out and give them a try!
The class starts at 7pm and $30 will cover beer with cheese and meat pairings.
