La Divina Gelateria On Magazine Closing This Weekend

La Divina Gelateria will serve its last scoop at its Garden District location June 22 before closing up shop, The Times-Pic reports. Gelato superfans can still get their fix at the café's French Quarter, Loyola University (and even Baton Rouge) spots. Per yesterday's press release, co-owner Carmelo Turilloc sees this change as an expansion. "As our wholesale business has increased with additional fine dining establishments like Domenica, Sylvain and Meaux Bar featuring our gelato, we have realized that we have to pay some extra attention to our wholesale operation. We plan to make our gelato available at some new venues throughout the state of Louisiana, and to spend some time experimenting with some additional gelato flavors and variations. There are just a few of us on staff, so it makes the most sense to close the shop on Magazine and devote more time and energy to the wholesale business."
