Splendid Pig will be the first pop-up featured at Milkfish on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. until, starting May 14. Splendid Pig is operated by Brandon Blackwell of Cleaver & Co (also an Upperline kitchen alum) and wife/GM of Martinique Bistro Jennifer Sherrod. They'll also continue their Monday night gig at Carrollton Station (8140 Willow St.), where they serve from 6–9:30 p.m. Check out their menu online here.
Samantha Marrone reports that there's a new Cuban pop up, Congreso Cubano, operating out of the Bywater from Creole Pub Crawl's Orlando "Orly" Vega and Ricky Ostry. The duo are currently holding down a Cuban breakfast pop up at coffee-heatmap haunt Solo Espresso, and they're getting ready to launch a gig at Casa Borrega in Central City on Friday nights, with food, a mojito/caipirinha bar, and live Latin jazz in the courtyard. As for the food: "The recipes hail from Vega's grandmother's recipes book and include contemporary fusion twists added by Ostry, dissolving the barriers between Cuban and Cajun/Creole cuisines." Think ropa vieja, tostones, and more.
