Anticipated Opening: Late May/Early June
While St. Claude Avenue's impending European drunk food/doner kebab hotness Kebab is aiming to open after Memorial Day weekend, owners Benjamin Harlow and Walker Reisman will debut the attached art gallery/community center this Saturday, May 10, as part of the Second Saturday art walk. They'll also be giving away pork souvlaki skewers outside and offering a sneak peak inside the highly-anticipated restaurant.
Located in the the former Henry's Bakery & Deli, the floor plans include a dining room with 28 seats and 16 counter stools, and an open kitchen with seating for 5 along a chef's counter.
The menu is short and sweet, with sandwiches all under $7, falafel, fresh cut fries, house-made sauces, and promises of young coconut juice straight out of the husk. Also of note, menu-wise: Plans for a weekly lamb roast every Sunday, a pizza oven (which was actually built by Harlow and Reisman) for their house baked bread from pastry chef Elyse Manning. The duo also plan to operate locavore fine-dining pop-up Margaret's as well as their cult-fave Pete's Easy Pizza Speakeasy out of Kebab once a month too.
