Scenes From New Orleans Wine & Food Experience 2014

This weekend, thousands of people descended upon the convention center to experience NOWFE's Grand Tasting, the even't main draw, a sampling of the Fleur de Lis Culinary Awards dishes and wine pairings, where over 2 days, 75+ restaurants sling small bites and winery's pour their best, with proceeds benefiting local charities. This year 40% of proceeds benefit nonprofit Reconcile New Orleans, best known for Cafe Reconcile, the great cafe (and Eater 38 staple) that helps at risk youth learn life and culinary skills. Cafe Reconcile actually helped kick off NOWFE events with their own impeccable vintner dinner on Wednesday night, along with many other fine local restaurants.

Folks turned up in droves for the Royal Street Stroll, and for the Grand Tasting, of which the Times-Pic has tons of coverage— including a look at Friday night's Grand Tasting, the results and photos of the pastry extravaganza The Big Gauteaux Show won by pastry chef Vanessa Fiorini, and Patois Chef Aaron Burgau's big win in the Louisiana Seafood competition. Here now, is a look at NOWFE's Royal Street Stroll and the Grand Tasting.
