Royal Blend in French Quarter Closes After Losing Lease

Yesterday's reports of an abrupt closure at French Quarter coffee house, Royal Blend, are indeed permanent, Todd Price reports. From Royal Blend's Facebook page:

To all our loyal patrons of Royal Blend French Quarter. We regret to say that after 26 year in the Quarter, we have lost our lease and have been forced to close our doors. We truly appreciate your patronage. Please come visit us in Old Metairie and hope to pop up in a new location soon.

An in-the-know tipster tells Eater NOLA that staff weren't made aware of the unfortunate lease loss situation until Monday evening and had to pack up by Wednesday at 5 p.m. "The owner put a sign on the door thanking the patrons from over the years, but whoever took over the property was kind enough to tear that sign down right at five."
