Stop Working! A Midweek Booze & Food Fest Reminder

For those of you chomping at the bit to fess away the midweek work doldrums, fret not. The Brooklyn Brewery Mash is raging on this evening with a free beer school (and St. James Cheese Co. pairing) at Avenue Pub at 7 p.m. and stand up comedy($10) at Howlin Wolf at 9 p.m.

Tomorrow evening, The Mash will bring the brews— Brooklyn Lager & Summer Ale to be exact— to the The Vendy Awards as the street food event descends upon the French Market from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Known as the Oscars of street food, The Vendy Awards pits local trucks/sidewalk vendors against each other for the title of the Best Street Food in New Orleans. This year's finalists are: Crepes a la Carte, Empanada Intifada, Food Drunk, Foodie Call, Frencheeze, Imperial Woodpecker Sno-balls, La Cocinita, Miss Linda Green (The Ya-K-Mein Lady), and The Nola Truck.

As Todd A. Price notes, there are $6 tickets available, which include one drink but no food (ie. pay as you go). Other tickets range from $24–$36 with samples from all vendors, the right to vote for the People's Choice award and drinks. Get tickets online here.
