Velvet Closed Until Fall, Velvet Central Plans to Return Too

Turns out that temporarily-shuttered Velvet, the Uptown home of third wave coffee and housemade pop tarts, is going to be closed until October for some major upgrades, according to Todd A. Price: "The addition of a heavy-duty air conditioner is just one of the upgrades that needs to be made on the property. Not long ago, Velvet's water bills jump dramatically, signaling plumbing issues. A car recently ran into the building." Gees.

Expect the baked goods to be 100% organic (ie. house-milled flour even) when owner Tamara Muro reopens the shop. Also on tap is the reopening of Velvet Central, but apparently no date has been set and the location is currently under construction again with Muro stating that the first time around they "opened a little too soon."
