LOUISIANA—Chain restaurant Hardee's has locations coming soon to Baton Rouge and Mandeville as part of an "initiative to open doors on 30 new restaurants in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas within seven years," reports Chelsea Brasted, including a new Mexican spin-off called Red Burrito. NOLA— Scott Gold reports that The Kupcake Factory is giving away free mini cupcakes on Saturday, March 8, as part of the bakery's sixth anniversary. There are also gift card giveaways and a free cupcake with purchase of five. [Gambit]

LOUISIANA— "Bayou Teche had just released what is almost certainly the first commercial beer specifically brewed to complement boiled crawfish," reports Brett Anderson. Look for Saison D'Ecrivisses on tap or in the bottle from now until about June. [NOLA.com]
