Freret To Get Ice Cream 504 Company Store This Summer

Just when you thought Freret Street had reached maximum dining synergy, something else comes along that actually makes sense.... this time, an ice cream shop. Todd A. Price reports that Ice Cream 504 Company Store will be opening this summer in a slim shotgun at 2511 Jena St.— so right off of Freret, pretty much caddy corner to High Hat Cafe. Owner Michael Southall has run the business at French Market Produce in the French Market for years.

Expect 10-16 rotating flavors, of "preservative-free, small-batch ice cream" with a different texture than you'd expect, since Southall doesn't use gum or flour in his recipe. It's also gluten free. Check out Ice Cream 504 at Freret Street Festival next Saturday, April 5.
