An Eater tipster reports that a new Chinese restaurant Ming's is under construction/has signage up with plans to open in the former Zachary's space (7224 Pontchartrain Blvd.) in West End, nextdoor to Two Tony's. According to a Lakeview Civic Improvement Association December 2013 newsletter, the restaurant which was set to open in December 2013, so is a bit delayed is from chef/owner Ming Joe, who will do American Chinese with dishes inspired by Hong Kong and other regions:
Ming's Chinese Restaurant is a return to professional cooking for the 49-year-old New Orleanian and former financial advisor. Ming's mother, Susan, taught him how to cook Chinese food more than 25 years ago in the kitchen of their family-owned Uptown restaurant, China Orchid in the Riverbend neighborhood...Ming's is the first Chinese restaurant to open in Lakeview since Hurricane Katrina caused the
loss of China Rose and Hong Kong restaurants in West End.
No word on opening date yet, so stay tuned for details. Know an upcoming restaurant in your neighborhood? Leave a comment or send us an email down the tipline.
