Chef Dave Bridges has left Uptown's Creole and art mecca Upperline to focus on his family. Owner JoAnn Clevenger tells Todd A. Price the parting is amicable, "His main passion now is his baby girl. I think all of this is very unexpected, but life is like this." Bridges took over as executive chef a little over two years ago. During that time, he raked in high praise from critics, including Brett Anderson, and continued to dazzle in the kitchen.
Clevenger is currently interviewing chefs. She was recently named a semifinalist for James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Restaurateur award.
