Raymond "Ray" Charles Newman, owner of the popular French Quarter bar the Chart Room, has passed away at the age of 79 due to throat cancer. "People were drawn to him," Mr. Newman's wife, Brenda, tells Todd A. Price. "They loved him. Once they met him, they became lifelong customers and friends."
