Iconic Charles Seafood Reopens Under New Ownership

New, 1 comment

Charles Seafood (ie. Charlie's Seafood), the Harahan institution that shuttered under legendary chef Frank Brightsen due to a lease dispute in April 2013, has reopened under new ownership. Patti and Shawn Kelley purchased the property in November 2013, and reopened the doors to the iconic neighborhood restaurant in January 2014. Patti Kelley tells Eater, "We've spent several months developing a new menu. We offer 7 different signature sandwiches. Our house specialty is Jambalaya grits."

Here's the menu and the new official website. There's still all sorts of fried seafood, but also more of a Creole Italian flare, and lots of daily specials. And they've had some boiled crawfish specials going for $3.99/lb.
