Todd A. Price reports that Maple Street Patisserie will expand with a bistro in Mid City/Holly Grove area this April, and already have plans for a third location too. Pastry chef Ziggy Cichowski and biz partner Patricia-Ann Donohue will open Maple Street Patisserie et Bistro in the American Chicle building on Earhart Boulevard near Carrollton. This is that giant restored gum factory you pass on the way out to Elmwood or the airport and are like, what is that place? Well, the top floor is now headquarters to Landis construction and the bottom floor has been mostly vacant. Once upon a time, regional food hub Jack and Jake's had planned to open an organic local market there, but instead decided to move it to O.C Haley (switcheroo story in the comments), which they promise is still forthcoming.
Anyways, looks like the 2,900 square foot ground floor of this beautiful building will finally be put to good use with Landis converting the space into the bistro, which will open onto the patisserie and then lead to the dining room. As for the food, the owners are describing it as 'California-style' big sandwiches, salads, and soups with an unnamed chef from San Francisco on board. Breakfast, lunch, and brunch will be the name of the game, but wine and beer will be available.
