Beer Cocktails at Booty's, Tastee Donut's King Cake Haters

BYWATER— Booty's Street Food has teamed up with Abita to launch a handful of beer cocktails (menu to the right). Barman Teddy Blumenthal unveiled the drinks last night, including a riff on a dark and stormy and a 'beertail' with amaro. [Eaterwire]

MID CITY— More on the new LGBT hangout The Tulane Bar (3813 Tulane) that's making a name in Mid City, per Gambit: "The bar is open 4 p.m.-midnight Thursday-Sunday. On Saturdays, the bar stays open a little later to accommodate up to eight drag performances, put on by the group The Divas of Engender." [Gambit]

METAIRIE— Todd Price and the 58 Days Later king cake zombies get slaughtered by commenters over their picture of a Tastee Donut's Mackenzie-style king cake this week. While the "unadorned oval of brioche topped with sugar' does looks tasty, as one commenter notes, "If that picture is a Mckenzie king cake that I'm ray nagin, and right now I'm not sitting in court" and yet another "the original had the sprinkled ends with cherries smuched in, sugar that pretty much melted on top, and was not as bready as the Tastee's McKenzies are."
