Todd Price reports that 1000 Figs, the brick and mortar restaurant brought to life by the minds behind the Fat Falafel, Theresa Galli and Gavin Cady, opens tonight at 5 p.m. More than falafel, Price says, the restaurant will bring a wide variety of "fresh, seasonal fare like kale salad with squid, lamb with cucumber salad and shrimp with corn couscous." Lunch service starts on Wednesday, and the hours of operation will be Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
1000 Figs is located in the former Bayou St. John location of the Maple Street Book Shop in Mid City at 3141 Ponce de Leon St. Menus can be found in Price's article, and note that they'll have a holiday break at the end of the year.
Next week, the newly renovated Brennan's Restaurant on Royal Street will be open for business after many months and $20 million, starting on November 25. NOLA.com/Times Picayune got some exclusive photos of famed designer Richard Keith Langham's dramatic redesign to whet the public's appetite. Intrepid food reporter Todd Price says, "Brennan's, which was bought this past May for nearly $7 million by [Ralph] Brennan and [Terry] White, at first, will offer only breakfast and lunch. On Dec. 5, executive chef Slade Rushing, formerly of MiLa, will introduce his dinner menu."
Also, according to Price, on Nov. 25, Brennan's will open at 10 a.m. Reservations can be made starting today (Nov. 17). Through Dec. 4, the hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Dec. 5, dinner will be added Tuesday through Sunday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Starting Dec. 16, the restaurant will open daily.
