Three Upcoming Beer Dinners Not To Miss In November

Beer and food - that's a no-brainer.

Avenue Pub- Facebook

Over the next couple of weeks, there are three opportunities to enjoy beer paired with food at various bars and restaurants around town. These events feature different breweries with different kinds of food and atmosphere, so pick the one that looks the best for you.

On November 7, Dat Dog on Magazine Street is hosting Gnarly Barley Brewing for a 3 course sausage fest paired with the three Gnarly Barley Beers: Catahoula Common with the Bacon Werewolf Dog; Radical Rye PA paired with a bratwurst cooked in the same beer and served with grilled sauerkraut and creole mustard; and Korova Milk Porter paired with the duck sausage special (which has a blackberry sauce that pairs nicely with a darket beer). It's $15 for three 5 oz pours and mini dog portions. Starts at 7pm, and runs through till 10pm.

Shreveport brewery Great Raft is celebrating its official rollout into the New Orleans market by holding a Sunday Southern Supper at the Avenue Pub on November 9 starting at noon.  Watch the Saints play as you try the brewery's Southern Drawl Pale lager, Commotion Pale Ale, Reasonably Corrupt Dark Lager, At Arms Length Indiia Pale Lager, and brand new Creature of Habit Coffee Brown being served with southern fried chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, and cornbread.

Slightly more formal (but not too much so) is NOLA Brewing's beer dinner at Arnaud's Remoulade on Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a NOLA Blonde Ale while munching on passed hors d'oeuvres - shrimp corndogs, boudin wontons with pepper jelly mustard, oysters en Brochette with Marchand de Vin, and cheese straws. The first course pairs NOLA Brown Ale with oyster, duck and andouille gumbo with Louisiana popcorn rice; the second course is NOLA Rebirth Pale Ale with Alligator Sauce Piquante with Goat Cheese-Honey Grits; and the third course pairs NOLA Hopitoulas IPA with Buck's Fried Chicken and Waffles with Sawmill Gravy. Dessert is NOLA's Irish Channel Stout with a warm apple crostada. The cost to attend is $45 (inclusive of tax and gratuity). For reservations, call (504) 523-5433. Space is limited.
