VCC Sends Cafe Habana Back To Architectural Review Hell

The Vieux Carre Commission has again deferred action on the potential Cuban restaurant, which has been attempting to move to the corner of Esplanade and Rampart for the past two years.

Cafe Habana, the Cuban restaurant that's been hoping to renovate a blighted gas station and two-story house at the corner of Esplanade and Rampart for the past two years, is back to the twilight zone drawing board again. Yesterday, the Vieux Carre Commission deferred action on the project because they need more information on the design, Richard Webster reports:

The project will return to the commission's Architectural Review Committee for another round of design refinements and revisions. The details that still need to be finalized include signage, lighting, the perimeter fence and exhaust system.

Exhaust system spoiler: we have now reached FULL EXHAUSTION. Sean Meenan and company will likely present the revised plans on October 14.
