Pat O'Briens Minor Duct Fire Is Under Control

Photo: flickr/Paul Lowry

It's a bummer start to Carnival over at Pat O'Briens on Bourbon Street, the legendary home of Hurricanes, dueling pianos, and all that is fabulous flaming courtyard fountains. The famous party hub experienced a minor fire in their duct work this morning, but as of 10 a.m., The Times-Pic reports that the NOFD has the fire "nearly under control" with five trucks parked out front (and a lot of this happening inside?). Vehicle traffic is blocked off at Toulouse and Bourbon, and foot traffic is also blocked off in front of Pat O's.

No word yet on the extent of damage— perhaps just water damage— but thankfully Carnival season is long this year, so hopefully their business won't be too badly impacted. Here's to keeping all that Hurricane mix safe, because heaven knows what sort of Lisa Frank double-unicorn smoke cloud would seek revenge upon the city if the red drank solids were to ignite.
