Galatoire's Auction Switcheroo, King Cake Mania, More

NOLA— Todd A. Price reports that famed pastry chef/author of the The Art of French Pastries Jacquy Pfeiffer will be in town this weekend, discussing his book and doing a series of free demonstrations at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel (921 Canal St.) on Saturday, February 1, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and at Sucré (3025 Magazine) on Sunday, February 2, from 12 to 2 p.m. Maple Street bookstore will also have a signing event on Monday, February 3. CENTRAL CITY— This Friday, chef Ryan Hughes will bring an Asian theme to Purloo with a Lunar New Year dinner, featuring five courses for $52 or $75 with wine pairings, and a menu inspired by Chinese and Veitnamese cuisine, including Tamarind roasted Swordfish and a Vietnamese charcuterie plate.
